NEED TO ACHIEVE

Nowadays modern societies are based on the rule that you need to be somebody. From a very young age children are coded to compete with each other: you need to be smart to get in a better school where you can get better education and then you can pass your highschool exams wonderfully and with your exams result you can get for free to university. And so on. Estonia is taking giant leaps to be a excellent little example of society which is exemplarily based on achievement-orientation.

You need to be good in sport or singing or dancing or any kind of „cool activity“ to be accepted by others. Society likes to believe that every adolescent wants to be somebody and society makes it possible.

It is very annoying that young people can think only one way because it is the only way to stay alive and feel yourself well. For me, it is a big problem that youngsters are nowadays made some kind of machines who are used to think only one way.

I can illustrate what I mean with such a story. If you put fleas in the jar and you close the jar with cover then the fleas began to jump against cover. One day when you take the cover away fleas are still jumping at the same hight and don´t ascape from jar because they are not used to jump higher.

I´m sorry, but I can´t participate in tomorrows lections because I also study in theatre school to be a dramaturg. And I´m thinking writing a play about this problem. And sorry about my bad english.

All the best. Sincerely,
Mart Kase
